How we differ
The Marshall Direct Fund is named in honor of the Marshall Plan. Just as George Marshall recognized the great need to invest in war-weary people and ventures abroad. We believe supporting people in need of education and economic opportunities allows them to choose peace and prosperity over violence and despair. We do not invest in building, bricks and mortar…we invest in human capital. We operate primary and vocational schools and do an annual virtual exchange program. We invest in teacher training, scholarships for students, provide uniforms and lunches made locally (often the only clothing students have or only meal of the day), oversee implementation of curriculum that covers applicable subjects and fosters critical thinking.
